This is one of the most frustrating things to read when you are just trying to log into your account. Maybe you forgot your password or maybe you misspelled your email address too many times, but no matter what, you’re shut out. And you don’t like it.
But when the scammer who is trying to get into your account reads that same message, you like it. You like that your accounts are safe and so does your player. They want to always know that their in-game items, XP, and currency are intact.
Cybersecurity is crucial for ensuring your player can enjoy their gaming experience without fear of being targeted by cybercriminals or falling victim to scams. It allows them to really focus on the game itself, rather than worrying about potential threats.
We all know that it’s easier to remember one password and use it everywhere. But, that’s like Tesla making one fob that allows entry into every vehicle it produces. Yes, even the Cybertruck. That’s just absurd. (The idea, not the truck.)
In the same way, when you/your player are creating passwords, use strong, unique passwords for the accounts and the game related platforms and please do not use easily guessable passwords. That just defeats the purpose. And while it’s a pain in the neck sometimes, two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security. Also, pro tip here - If you don’t already use one, a password manager app on your phone can help keep all of your and your player’s passwords in one convenient location so you truly only need to remember one password.
From a faith perspective, practicing good cybersecurity aligns with the biblical principle of stewardship. Just as we are called to be good stewards of our time, talents, and resources, we should also be responsible with our online presence and the information entrusted to us. Luke 16:10 mentions, “Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much, and whoever is unrighteous in very little is also unrighteous in much.”
Make the connection:
Make time to talk with your player about the importance of strong and unique passwords and if need be, change them to be more secure.
